2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Incredibly green, efficient washer, February 23, 2012 By I.P. (Boulder, CO USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: LG WM3550HWCA (Misc.) Pros:
--As of Feb 2012, this is the most efficient large capacity consumer washing machine according to the EPA. Google 'EPA washing machine' to see their website.
--This unit costs $10 a year to operate!!!
--Gets clothes really clean. I use the ultra efficient 'tap cold' setting every time and I haven't had a problem yet getting out tough stains (like blood)
--The steam mode is a nice bonus feature I think, but I don't really use it very often. But when i do, it's on a blanket on a cold day, and it's refreshing.
--The aller-genie mode (get it? as in allergy-fighting mode) does sheets very nicely, and I notice a real difference from my old washer
--Each load takes 1/2 the detergent I would normally use with my old top-loader.
--According to Consumer Reports, LG is the most reliable washing machine brand, and we haven't had any problems yet in last couple of months we've owned this machine.
--Easy install, setup, and operation. I'm not good with... Read more

We bought the top of the line LG front load washer a few years ago. It was great for a year, and then the problems started. We've had repair people in several times and repairs are always a hassle because all LG parts must be ordered from CA.
The smell started the second year, and it has been a continual problem. You may hear about wiping the door seal, using different detergent, and other solutions, but we've tried them all, as well as products to eliminate the smell. The only reliable solution is to use the bottom drain line located inside a small compartment on the front of the washer after every load. Yes, the small door that is not mentioned in the manual contains a drain line, and we drain the left over water into a small bucket after each wash.
Our clothes don't smell, but this process is absurd. We've contacted LG, but it's a waste of time. The only thing they haven't told me yet is their washer is better than washing clothes on a rock near a... Read more
